Drs. Scrivani and Merrill

Dr. Merrill and colleagues have agreed to review this data

3.       Manuscript submission for ACHE website.

Dr. Alonso has a manuscript for submission.

4.       Update on the collaboration between the American Headache Society and the American Academy of Orofacial Pain.

Dr. Scrivani

The proposed “official” collaborative agreement between the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of AHS and the Council of AAOP has been voted on and fully approved by both organizations.  Dr. Steven Graff-Radford was appointed as the liaison from AHS to AAOP and Dr. Steven Scrivani the liaison from AAOP to AHS.  At this time, since the passing of Dr. Graff-Radford, a new liaison for this position is needed.  Dr. Scrivani is acting as the liaison for both organizations.  This new collaboration will start at the respective 2017 Annual Scientific Meetings of AAOP and AHS.  Representatives of both organizations will attend the respective meetings of both organizations and have a display present in the breakout areas with those of industry and other organizations.  Anyone interested in being involved in this collaboration should contact Steve Scrivani.  We would like to have a “booth” at the AHS meeting in Scottsdale to support the Pre-Course from the Section as well as at the Annual Scientific Meeting in San Francisco in 2018.

5.       Orofacial Pain Specialists Training and current Orofacial Pain Training programs.  Email update to the AHS membership.

Dr. Scrivani

An announcement and statement is being composed and hopefully will be sent out to the entire AHS membership as well as posted on the AHS website updating the AHS membership about the members of AAOP, Fellowship in AAOP, Board certification through ABOP and the CODA accredited 2 year orofacial pain training programs.  The breadth of the AAOP membership, educational guidelines and level of training in orofacial pain, headache and other related areas will be discussed and presented to the AHS membership.

6.       Section Research Grant Application – Facial Pain and Sleep Disorders: A Survey Study Using The Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index

We had proposed to use this for orofacial pain and headache patients to evaluate the relationship of sleep disorders and medication use for pain and sleep disorders.  Our OFP Center has been using this questionnaire and we would like to have additional groups/Center be a part of this study.

I will submit this proposal to AHS for potential Section grant funding in order to continue this project with other institutions through the Orofacial Pain Special Interest Section.

7.       New Business
