AHS Membership Categories

Please note: Memberships run on a calendar year basis from 1/1-12/31. INFORMATION BELOW REFLECTS 2025 MEMBERSHIPS. aLL MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED AFTER 10/1/2024 WILL EXPIRE 12/31/2025. 

Active

 $175 for the first year, $325 for renewals - Active membership is for all professionals holding degrees in a health-related field, who are interested in developing and sharing clinical and scientific expertise in head/face pain and related disorders.  Examples include, but are not limited to, physicians (MD or DO), advanced practice providers (NP or PA), nurses, psychologists, dentists, basic scientists, physical therapists and pharmacists. Applicants must include a copy of their current professional license to practice, medical certificate or proof of degree.

 

Active members may vote and have the “privilege of the floor” at all member meetings of AHS at which matters are presented to the members for a vote. Active members may hold office and serve on Committees as designated by the President. Active members outside of the USA receive online-only access to the Journal Headache®.

 

Within the Active category, the following recognitions are available: Fellow, Emeritus and Regent.

  • Fellow: Reflects acknowledgement by peers of high professional and scholarly achievement, integrity, outstanding professional maturity and superior competence.
  • Emeritus: Reflects professionals who have retired from practice and wish to maintain membership.
  • Regent: Reflects members of AHS who have made major contributions to AHS or the headache field.

 

Trainee

$25 - Trainee membership is offered to medical students, residents, fellows, and others currently enrolled in graduate or postgraduate training in a health-related field, who have interest in learning about headache disorders and participating in the society’s activities. Applicants must include a letter of verification of active training from their institution. Trainee membership will be reviewed annually to verify eligibility.

 

Trainee membership includes all the benefits of Active membership except voting privileges, election to the Board of Directors, committee appointments, and fellowship (FAHS) recognition.

 

Industry

$325 - Industry membership refers to all professionals having primary employment in a health-related industry and includes all the benefits of Active membership except voting privileges, election to the Board of Directors, and the ability to serve on a committee or hold a Special Interest Section chair position.
